The Chilean Peso used to have a 1000 distance from the British Pound. The pound used to trade 1.5 times de United States Dollar. The Dollar used to be 80% of a Euro.
Now, the USD is 100% of a Euro, and the Pound is 120% of a USD; therefore, the USD has a 1000 distance from the Chilean Peso.
The USA has the new global strong currency in its hands, with the Pound out of the game, and the Euro also being a great loser. The greatest loser anyway is not the Euro, it is the Chilean Peso.
Chile abandoned the Anglo-Saxon model for walking toward the European Welfare State. Its currency is showing the effects of that decision.
